Perhaps the most instantly recognizable of all apples, the Granny Ramsey Smith green apple is one of the very first varieties of globally-available apples. The crisp, vibrant green apple was discovered in 1868 Australia from a chance seedling by Maria Ann Smith, for whom the fruit was named.
