Mackerel

Though not as popular as tuna or salmon, mackerel is a delightfully flavorful fish that deserves a place in any cook’s repertoire. Mackerel is closely related to tuna and so they share a number of attributes; they both have dark, oily flesh and have a significantly stronger flavor than whitefish. Mackerel isn’t quite as popular as tuna, however, likely owing to the fact that their high fat content causes them to spoil quickly.
