Ancho chilis

The Ancho chili is a dried Poblano pepper and is the most common of the dried chili peppers. They have a deep reddish-brown to black color and a wrinkled texture. The flavor is mildly fruity with undertones of plum, raisin, tobacco, and a slight earthiness. On a heat scale of one to ten, the ancho chili is about a three to four, making it of medium heat.
