Zaatar

Za'atar or zahtar is the name of a spice blend made of green or dried herbs, mixed with roasted sesame seeds, dried sumac, and often salt, as well as other spices. The taste can be tangy, herbal, nutty, or toasty. Za’atar was known and used in Ancient Egypt. Egyptians used za’atar as an embalming agent. It is believed in the Middle East that za'atar makes the mind alert and the body strong.
